The food is fine but not better than the small truck on Spruce behind Vance Hall. It has the worst service of any truck near Huntsman.

This site isn't about getting all the ratings to reflect YOUR opinions. The whole point of averaging all the points is to get a COLLECTION of opinions. I know you think you know everything, but not everyone else thinks so. I'm rating this a 5 again to bring these ratings back in line with the REAL reality. Your rating made it sound about a 2.5.. now your rating actually counts for what it should have.

Don't hate - brianty - June 21, 2007

There's a reason this place has been around for so many years. Yes, the service sucks, yes, the wait is long. So call ahead so you 1) don't have to deal with the woman for more than 2 seconds and 2) don't have to wait! Call 20 minutes ahead and you won't have to wait when you get there. The reason why this place has so many people who still go to it despite terrible service and the most unattractive truck on campus is because the food is so good. Someone said the food at Yue Kee is not authentic.. tell me where you can get better, more authentic Chinese food on campus. Beijing? Yeah, right. Chicken with Eggplant and Black Bean Sauce is a real winner.. I thought I was ordering from a restaurant in Chinatown. Prices are good and portions are generous, too. I'm rating this a 5 "to bring it back to the mean." Actually, my HONEST opinion is that it's 5 stars. This is at least a 4 star truck, not 2. And people who haven't even eaten the food shouldn't be rating the truck.

Waited 10 minutes and never got my order taken. Philadelphia Inquirer said the food was good, but I'll never find out if that's true.

The food is actually very good comparing to Kim's. I like the fast item, spareribs in black bean sauce. Also, their Mapo Tofu is good. BUT, you have to call ahead of time. Otherwise, you'll be standing & freezing there for at least 20 mins. (or avoid the lunch time)

People rave about the food. I think its average even for a food truck. And if you dont call ahead expect to wait at least 20 minutes...even when no one else in on line But what really gets me about the place is just how rude the woman who takes orders is. I'm not expecting a smile, but dont act like you're angry i came.

Better than ABP - yocole - April 12, 2007

Yue Kee is better than ABP, but that's not saying much. This is not real Chinese food, and it's not very tasty either. It says something about our lowered expectations when it comes to lunch trucks that this truck gets such positive reviews. I'm giving it a zero to bring the average back in line with reality.

Pretty much agree with the three reviews above. Great chinese food (some of the better you'll find in University City) but the wait can be painful. I don't really go unless there's no crowd or I call ahead. Recommend the ginger chicken or eggplant & chicken.

Calling ahead is a must but be forewarned that when you're told you'll have to wait "20 minutes" you may be waiting even longer than that. Convenient location, good food, great value, just don't go there if you're in a rush.

Make sure its a nice sunny day, and youve got a friend to chat with because if there is any sort of a crowd it will take a long time - like 25 minutes. Calling ahead seems to help. Serving size is large, not skimpy. Truck is open later so you can grab dinner there too. The truck looks gross but that has no effect on the food. I am a fan of the beef chow fun.
